CORE Deck - Low maintenance Wood Composite Decking

Our composite decking and joists are made from a combination of 100% FSC® certified timber by-products and recycled high density polyethylene. (60% recycled wood fibres and 40% recycled plastic)

By combining the natural look and feel of timber with the strength and durability of plastic, we have created a solution to traditional decking’s biggest problems. This makes great use of post-consumer waste, and helps to conserve the earth’s precious natural resources… in effect it is Plastic Wood Decking.

Easy to Install & Low Maintenance

Our composite deck boards are as easy to work with as traditional timber; no specialist tools required. We have an easy to follow install guide with diagrams and helpful tips click here to take a look.

The boards are very low maintenance; no need to sand and re-stain year after year, simply wash with hot soapy water to keep your deck looking as good as new. We have an aftercare guide which you can find here

Anti-Slip & Mould Resistant

Our composite decking boards have been independently CE tested to EN13893-2002 to HSE standards. The boards were tested both in wet and dry conditions and the CoF value was well above the minimum threshold for both.

Our decking boards are constructed using hard wood fibres and recycled polyethylene giving the boards a hard wearing surface that is mould resistant.

Fade & Stain Resistant

An anti-UV agent is added during the manufacturing process to reduce colour fade and increase stain resistance. The boards will fade initially by approx 6-8% within the first few months of sun exposure but will then stabilise.

ADJUSTABLE SUPPORT LEG

STEP 1

1. When setting out the cradles/support legs and the subframe joists please ensure they are centred at 300mm spacings. This is to ensure even weight distribution across the decked area.

STEP 2

2. To ensure you do not have any sitting water on the decking, please allow for a 1 in 80 fall across the subframe running in the direction of the decking boards. Direct the fall away from the building allowing the water to run off to a drain or porous surface i.e lawn or flowerbed.

STEP 3

3. You should always pre-drill composite wood to approx. 75% of the fixing depth to reduce the risk of surface damage.

STEP 4

4. Ensure to leave at least a 15mm expansion gap between the decking and any surrounding walls. Use the start/end clips when you lay the first/last row of boards, this will help to maintain a straight line and secure the board.

STEP 5

5. Make sure that no boards overhang the joist by more than 40mm without being supported by an additional joist.

STEP 6

6. Push the first board tightly against the starting clips ensuring there are no gaps. Install the first row of fixing clips ensuring they are pushed tightly into the groove on the edge of the board before fixing them to the joist. These will provide a uniform 3mm spacing between the boards.

STEP 7

7.  Ensure two boards always meet on a joist and to use a fixing clip on each board to secure it in place. You should leave a 7mm expansion gap between the two ends of the boards.

STEP 8

8. Always take into account the cutting direction of your blade, particulary when using power saws. Be sure to use a fine toothed blade to prevent damage on the face edge of the board, this will leave a neat and clean finish.

STEP 9

9.  If you choose to use the angled board around the edge of your decking you will need to install and additional joist to support it. It should be fixed using stainless steel screws & construction adhesive.

WHY DO WE SUPPLY COMPOSITE BOARDS IN 2.2M LENGTHS?

All Wood Polymer Composite (WPC) products will expand and contract with temperature change. To relieve expansion pressure, we only supply the boards in 2.2m lengths.  This increases the number of expansion gaps across the decked area allowing the boards to expand and contract naturally with no adverse effects.

DO I NEED SPECIALIST TOOLS TO INSTALL COMPOSITE DECKING?

General woodworking tools are fine, there are no specialist tools required. Composite decking can be installed using the same tools you would use to install timber decking.

CAN I USE A TRADITIONAL WOODEN SUBFRAME?

Yes you can. A traditional tanalised wooden subframe may be used with composite decking. Ensure the bearers are no more than 300mm apart and are of a suitable size for the intended loading.

HOW MUCH WASTE SHOULD I ALLOW FOR WHEN CALCULATING MATERIALS?

You should generally allow for 5% waste. if you are using a diagonal or intricate pattern please allow for 15% waste.

ARE THE DECKING BOARDS REVERSIBLE?

No, we advise only to lay the decking with the grooved side up as this is the side that has been anti-slip tested. However, the smooth side of the board can be  used for either cladding or fencing applications.

HOW MUCH DOES DELIVERY COSTS AND LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ARRIVE?

All goods are palletised and dispatched by 2pm on the day of order and arrive to you 2 working days later. Accessories and small orders can be sent via courier on a next day service.
